Dashboard Manager

Last updated: July 10, 2020

Use this page to manage both Dashboards and Reports.

Switch between the two by choosing from the drop-down at the top of the page.

The dashboards/reports are listed in the order they appear throughout the system. The order can be edited by dragging and dropping the dashboards/reports to a new location.

New Dashboard/New Report

Click NEW DASHBOARD (with Type: Dashboard selected) or NEW REPORT (with Type: Report selected), and you are taken to the New Dashboard page.

Enter a name, description (optional), and the width of the dashboard or report then choose the type by selecting one of the radio buttons and click Create to generate the dashboard or report.

Dashboard/report types:

  • Dashboard: you can control access to the standard dashboard on a per-user basis
  • Selected Sites Dashboard: a dashboard whose access can be controlled on a per-site basis
  • Report: a report whose access can be controlled on a per-user basis

Dashboards Available to Organisation Grid

The dashboard/report types are represented with different coloured icons within the Dashboards Available to Organisation grid.

  • A Dashboard, or standard dashboard, is shown as a blue icon.
  • A Selected Sites Dashboard is shown as a red icon.
  • A Report is shown as a blue icon.

Double-clicking on the field dashboard Name, Export to PDF, PDF Mode, Update Frequency, Period Selector, or Period Behaviour allows you to edit the current value. Saving happens automatically when you leave the field.

Name The name of the dashboard
Export to PDF Display the Export to PDF icon on the live dashboard. Some dashboards are not suitable for PDF export (e.g., those with widgets containing treeviews), so for these dashboards, the setting should be set to No.
PDF Mode PDF - Original HMTL Tools PDF Advanced - New upgraded PDF tool PDF Advanced 1 Widget Wide - New upgraded PDF tool and each widget is on a row by itself
Update Frequency How long the dashboard will be displayed before moving on automatically to the next; only applicable when the dashboard is in presentation view - Presentation view is configured within the User Administration section, by setting the Rolling Refresh configuration to Yes.
System Created Dashboard This field is read-only if the dashboard was created automatically via a data collector.
Period Selector Hidden, Year, Quarter, Month, Custom; this will display a Period Selector above the dashboard, defaulting to the option selected here. Hidden means there will be no Period Selector on the dashboard. See separate Dashboard Period Selectors section for further details.
Period Behaviour Fixed, Variable, or Rigid. See separate Dashboard Period Selectors section for further details.

Dashboard/Standard Dashboard or Report

  • Dashboard
  • Report

When you select this type of Dashboard or Report, the Organisation, Group, and User Access configuration panel will be displayed to the right of the Dashboard list panel.

Any combination of groups and users can be selected and changes are saved to the database automatically.

This means that the whole organisation has access; every user in the organisation will see this dashboard.

This means that the whole organisation has access except the user ASCT. Any new users will have access to this dashboard. Only "test" is prevented from seeing the dashboard.

Note the tick at the org level. This means anyone in the organisation has access except anyone in the Azure SysConfTest group.

In contrast, this selection gives access to anyone in the AdminGroup. Any new user groups or new users added to Azure SysConfTest would not have access.

This only gives access to the specific user ASCT.

Selected Sites Dashboard

Selected Sites Dashboard

When you select this type of Dashboard, the selected sites TreeView Navigator panel appears to the right of the Dashboard list panel.

Allocating a site to a dashboard: Expand the tree to find the container you wish to allocate then make sure that the box is checked. The Site will be allocated to this dashboard.

De-allocating a site from a dashboard: To remove a site from a dashboard, navigate to the appropriate dashboard and remove the check from the Site's box.

Super Users

Super Users have an additional control, allowing them to switch organisations and to administer other organisations' dashboards.

To choose another organisation, expand the drop-down, choose from the available options, and click Go. The screen will refresh with details for that organisation.

Sharing and Un-Sharing Dashboards

SuperUsers will have permission to Share dashboards across organisations. With an organisation selected, click Share Dashboards. A list of standard Dashboards and Reports (not Selected Sites dashboards) belonging to other organisations that can be shared to the selected one will be displayed. Highlight the one(s) required and click Share.

This can be reversed by clicking the Un-Share Dashboards button, which will display a list of Dashboards and Reports that have been shared to the selected organisation. Again, highlight as required and click Un-Share. Dashboards belonging to the selected organisation cannot be Un-Shared.

Displaying Dashboards a User Can Access

When you double-click on any user in the Organisation, Group or User tree, a window displays the Dashboards that the user can see and the Dashboards they can't with an indication of the level to which access is given or revoked.

Displaying Dashboards a Site Can Access

Double-click on any site in the selected sites Tree View Navigator to display a window listing the Dashboards that site can see and the access level.

Dashboard Description

Enter a name, description (optional) and the width of the dashboard or report and choose the type by selecting one of the radio buttons then click Create to generate the dashboard or report.
